Pengiran Hajah Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Kamaluddin, Director General of Education from Ministry of Education, as the guest of honour accompanied by some officials from the ministry attended the School Open Day organised by Tungku Primary School this morning, 18 November 2013.

The guest of honour was welcomed by the school's headmistress, Cikgu Hajah Norliha binti Haji Matali. Also welcoming her were the Assistant Headmistress I and Assistant Headmaster II, Cikgu Hajah Samziah binti Haji Sabtu and Cikgu Hashnalhakhim bin Haji Abd Halim.

The visit started in the English Pra and Pra classes as they were the main focus and attraction of all show cases. The pra kids together with their teachers welcomed the visiting guests into their classrooms and showed their educational work and end-products they made based on their learning for this year.

Some of the pra kids showed their talent in playing a traditional Bruneian game called 'gasing' before the visitors.

They then moved into the hall where all show cases from Year 1 until Year 6 were held. Each level personally presented the hands-on and talent show.

Year 1 did the cursive writing done by 7-year-old kids. The Year 2 did the Show and Tell where the 8-year-old kids performed the reading into action and drama activities.

The 9-year-old kids of Year 3 presented the 3D models creation. Fantastic models were seen marvellous made by them. The creative writing activity done by 10-year-old Year 4 kids, made a move from basic but creative writing into picture stories in sequences, adding more creativity into fine drawings and scene set ups.

11-year-old kids of Year 5 showed the steps of making kites. They used raw materials like bamboos and crafted into fine straws for the skeletons. They were then modified into any shapes and plastered and designed with colour papers to give them to look more attractive.

The Year 6 of 12-year-old kids did the handicrafts and "Junior Chefs". The end-products they made this year were sold to public.

The visit then ended with a group photo with all teachers and an appreciation gift was given to guest of honour from the headmistress representing the school, teachers and students.
