SR Tungku Celebrated Brunei's 26th National Day

With the spirit of patriotism, though the day was drizzling, a pack of students and teachers from the school totalled for about 120 members joined the crowd to commemorate the 26th Brunei Darussalam's National Day on the morning of 23rd February 2010.

Students came to school as early as 6.00am and were ready at school's compound to be picked up by buses. Some came earlier before 6.00am. All gathered in the dark with teachers-in-charge. Our location was at the Edinburgh's road bridge near the Fire and Rescue station and next to Sekolah Rendah Pusar Ulak's students' and teachers' groups.

            

Soon the time came when His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and other royal members passed by the crowds escorted by a marvellous group of police bikers to attend the royal ceremony at Taman Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien in Bandar Seri Begawan. We waved the flag welcoming His Majesty to the yearly memorable occasion.

             

Students and teachers were distributed with refreshments while waiting the ceremony at the Taman to finish. We had time waiting for His Majesty to return back using the same road after the occasion was done and similarly to wave the flag again.

       

        

The day's occasion finished at about 10.00am. Students and teachers were gathered again ready to go back home to school. Parents were waiting there to pick their kids up. The students were very excellent today with their good discipline conduct and patriotism celebrating the National Day. Finally the school would like to wish a Happy 26th Anniversary Brunei Darussalam! The theme for this year's National Day was "Negaraku Brunei Darussalam".

Lantikan Prefek Sekolah Tahun 2010

Seramai 33 orang murid dari Tahun 4, Tahun 5 dan Tahun 6 telah dilantik menjadi Prefek Sekolah bagi tahun 2010. Penyampaian lencana Prefek telah disampaikan oleh Guru Besar, Cikgu Hj Suhaili bin Hj Jaafar.

Ambuyat.. Nyum2

Time for Ambuyat lunch!! after a half day working, teaching, yelling, talking, walking, singing and fighting. Felt so very relieved that some of the teachers who stayed back at school for another extra work made their lunch time an enjoyable moment.

At the first place planned by Cikgu Yulia but she couldn't come due to unavoidable circumstances, the Menumpah Ambuyat was made by Cikgu Serimah and helped by other teachers. Other food were brought along too. It was great to hangout together on free time. What could be the next big feast?

Majlis Perpisahan Guru Bersara dan Guru Berpindah Tempat Bertugas

Pada 6hb Februari yang lalu, Sekolah telah meraikan majlis perpisahan bagi guru yang bersara dan bagi guru-guru yang berpindah tempat bertugas. Majlis diadakan di Restoran Mutiah Kiulap.

Majlis yang berlangsung jam 1.30 petang itu dimulakan dengan bacaan Al-Fatihah dan seterusnya ucapan dari Guru Besar Sekolah. Guru bersara yang diraikan iaitu Cikgu Fatimah binti Hj Yahya dan guru yang berpindah tempat bertugas iaitu Cikgu Dk Hariana binti Pg Hj Johari juga berkesempatan memberi ucapan ringkas yang penuh makna. Majlis diakhiri dengan penyampaian hadiah cenderahati kepada guru yang diraikan dan doa selamat dibacakan oleh Ustaz Hj Salleh.

Australian Film Festival at Empire Theatre

Right after school three students from Sekolah Rendah Tungku had a chance to attend the Australian Film Festival which was held in a cinema at Empire Theatre. They were all Year 5 students namely Abdul Hassan from 5C, Aqil Azka from 5B and Aiman Hafizzat from 5A.

They claimed that going to the Empire cinema was their first time to watch a movie on a big screen. It was their first experience ever given from the school, which originally organised by the Ministry of Education in support of the Australian Film Festival occasion, perhaps. The students were exposed to an English movie so that they could learn English informally by just watching, listening and imitate the actions and dialogues from the movie.

They, as observed and told by an accompanied teacher Mohammad Zul Ariffin bin Haji Ibrahim, were very joyful at the place as it was their first time to be in the Empire Cinema building itself.

    

Upon arrival at 1.30 pm, tickets were made available by the persons-in-charge to the students as well as to other students from other schools. The movie titled Storm Boy played at 2 pm. It was a story of a 10 year old boy called Storm Boy who lived near a coast in Australia with his father who only worked as a fisherman. Their living condition was poor and Storm Boy never went to school until a female teacher came to their isolated house for an offer to the boy that he had the right to be given formal education like other children do. Storm boy was adapted to his living condition and made friends with wild birds, the three pelicans which he reared them since they were still babies. He also had a black-man friend, seemed to be an Australian aborigine who taught him all about the harsh life.

The movie finished at about 3.30 pm. Too early to go home, the kids were given chance to have their time at Berakas Forest Reserve and Recreation Park. They played the swings and filled in the questionaire forms previously given to them about the Storm Boy movie they had watched previously.
