Brunei Chess Federation presents chess sets to SR Tungku Gadong

The Brunei Chess Federation handed over new chess sets to Tungku Primary School in Gadong (SR Tungku Gadong) in a ceremony held recently at the school's premises.

Representing the Brunei Chess Federation was the national coach, Mr Tahir (Grand Master) who presented the chess sets to the Headmistress of Tungku Primary School, Hjh Norliha binti Matali.

Also present were Hjh Samziah Hj Sabtu, the Assistant Headmistress and Mr Azreem, HoD of ECA as well as Brunei National Chess player, Awang Nur Ariffin bin Haji Azahari.

According to a press statement, Tungku Primary School is one of six pilot schools nominated by the Brunei Chess Federation to represent Brunei in the Asian Primary School Olympiad later this year.

Science & Mathematics Adventure In Shahbandar

Acting Special Duties Officer at the Ministry of Education Hj Ramlee Abd Rahman yesterday officiated the 'Mathematics and Science Increasing Achievement Programme for Primary Schools Brunei III,' which was organised by the Committee of Primary School Brunei II leaders (JAPSER Brunei III).

Held at the Shahbandar Recreational Park, the day opened with a warm up exercise participated by the guest of honour, along with committee members, supervising teachers and participants.

In his speech, JAPSER Brunei III Chairman Ayerman Hj Kahan revealed that the programme is the result of joint coordination with the Science, Technology and Environment Cooperation (STEP) Centre.

The programme, which saw the participation of 66 students from n Brunei III primary schools, focused on participants' achievement in Science subjects.

This falls in line with the objectives of the STEP Centre to organise more Science, technology and environment education related activities.

Themed `Jejak Sains' (Science Trail), the event saw the designation of 11 stations where participants had to perform, within five minutes, activities according to their topic choices.

The programme served to increase students' interest in Science and Mathematics, while at the same time incorporating fun into the subjects.

11 Sekolah Rendah Brunei III sertai PPPS+M


Sebelas buah sekolah hari ini terlibat dalam Program Peningkatan Pencapaian Sains dan Matematik (PPPS+M) sekolah-sekolah rendah Brunei III di Taman Rekreasi Bukit Shah Bandar di Jerudong.

Hadir melancarkan majlis itu ialah Pemangku Pegawai Tugas-Tugas Khas Kanan (Rendah) Haji Ramlee Abdul Rahman yang turut berkesempatan menyampaikan ucapannya dan turut serta dalam sesi pemanasan badan bersama ahli jawatankuasa dan peserta serta guru pengiring yang hadir ke majlis itu.

Majlis itu dikendalikan jawatankuasa pemimpin sekolah-sekolah rendah Brunei III (JAPSER Brunei III) yang dimulakan dengan ucapan oleh pengerusi JASPER Brunei III, Ayerman Haji Kahan yang antaranya menyatakan program itu adalah hasil penyelarasan Pusat Kerjasama Sains, Teknologi dan Alam Sekitar (Pusat STEP).

Menurutnya, program itu menumpukan kepada pencapaian peserta dalam mata pelajaran sains selari objektif Pusat STEP untuk mengadakan lebih banyak aktiviti berkaitan pendidikan sains, teknologi dan alam sekitar yang melibatkan kira-kira 66 pelajar dari 11 sekolah yang terlibat.

Ia juga bertujuan menanamkan minat kepada pelajaran sains dan matematik serta mengembangkan kemahiran proses dalam sains serta menggalakkan murid untuk belajar dalam suasana berbeza dan membuat ulang kaji bagi persediaan PSR yang bakal mereka duduki sedikit masa lagi.

Menurut kenyataan penganjur program itu hari ini, tema aktiviti PPPS-M itu adalah "Jejak Sains" dan pelajar akan terlibat dengan 11 lokasi atau stesen yang terpilih dan akan membuat aktiviti mengikut tajuk dipilih dalam masa lima minit.
